France Gets Green Cars

by erin on Monday, May 14th, 2007

Renault, a French automotive company, has launched a line of eco-friendly vehicles. Renault promises that the vehicles are environmentally sensitive in all aspects of a car’s life cycle, from manufacturing to use to end-of life management (we call this recycling!)

The eco² vehicles meet three global environmental standards: they are produced in an ISO-14001-certified plant, their CO2 emissions do not exceed 140g/km (or are biofuel-compatible) and, in addition to being 95% reusable at the end of their life, at least 5% of the plastics they contain have been recycled.

Currently, this line of vehicles is only available in Europe. However, expansion across the globe will be considered once the line achieves success in the European marketplace.

(Car in photo not actual eco-car. It is a Renault car though!)
