Freecycle Offers Virtual Giveaways

by Brian Yalung on Saturday, September 27th, 2008

Call it an auction or a matter of performing fair trade, Freecycle can be any of it. It is actually a concept that we see today, getting rid of old stuff and trading or getting new unwanted things through a diverse network where you can share and even consider it an auction of sorts.

In short, rather than throw your old stuff out the garbage can, why not offer it and see if other people may be interested in it. The good thing about the Freecycle concept is that it is totally free. All you have to do is sign with a local group and post messages and you are on your way.

Not only are you helping the environment, you are getting considerable savings in the process as well. Who knows what you can find there!

If you haven’t already come across Freecycle, the online recycling network – one of the biggest green initiatives of the past decade – it is a global network of message boards, with more than 450 groups in the UK. The beauty of it is that it transforms one person’s trash into another’s treasure.

You sign up to your local group, where you can post messages to say what you’re offering, or looking for. No money changes hands and it’s up to the person who wants an item to collect it, so you don’t have to stress about how you’re going to heave an unwanted futon out of your home.
