Green The Ghetto, An Activist Fight for City Revitalization
Sustainable South Bronx, is a community organization created by long time eco-activist and resident of New York City South Bronx area, Majora Carter, through her efforts, Majora has managed to acquire funding and city approval for a major renovation and transformation project involving turning ugly abandoned waste filled lots into miles of waterfront playgrounds and park. Work on the project is slated to begin in the summer of 2007 and is expected to be completed by the year 2010. This is an ambitious proposal from an ordinary resident/activist with extraordinary resolve for her community and the environment.
