Green X-Mas Gift Idea: Adopt A Sea Creature
I’ve been reading alot lately on the web about giving Christmas gifts this year that have some real meaning and value.

Over at the Alternative Consumer blog, one cool idea mentions adopting a creature. I went to the site they link to in the article, and there are quite a number of animals you can adopt.
The way it works is you pick the animal you want to gift, and the recipient receives an adoption certificate and a plush animal of the adopted creature. The proceeds of the “gift” go toward improving and preserving the habitat of said gifted animal.
What a lovely sentiment to give to someone who is eco aware and an animal lover. To adopt the lovely whale pictured above (well not that one exactly but one like it) would only run about $50.

Neat stuff! Its nice that you also get a stuffed animal to give as a physical gift as well.
On the flip side, its sad, really that we even need to think about gifts of this nature. It says there is something wrong with us as people in respect to our outlook on the environment!
