Greening Your Small Business

by erin on Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

GreenBiz has a fantastic article about how small businesses can go green too — even if they don’t have the time, budget or manpower of the larger businesses who are constantly making green declarations recently.

The list includes:

  • Don’t worry if the steps you are taking are small — every bit counts.
  • Educate your staff on how they can can help out.
  • Look into options like “properly insulating the roof and walls; putting low energy light bulbs in every light fixture; wrapping a thick jacket around the boiler and pipes; and turning off appliances over night.”
  • Check out Energy Watch for info on green tarriffs (in the UK) to see if they can help you out.
  • Figure out want you want out of going green — whether it’s less waste, renewable energy or just lower electricity costs — then don’t be afraid to talk to the experts about it. They can make it faster and less painless than if you go it alone — especially if what you want to do is ambitious!
  • This is only a brief rundown of the article. To read it all, click here.
