“Waste Is The Most Abundant Local Resource Our Cities Have To Offer”.

That is the premise behind one eco retailers design studio. Based in British Columbia, Organelle on Etsy is this such studio.

They specialize in creating works of eco art that are functional as evidenced by the lamps before you, made from would be waste recycled hangars.

We approach our work from two angles. We are both searching for found objects to suit specific design program, and continuously harvesting available waste materials to derive concepts from. This recursive, non-linear process is the basis of our flexible methodology and allows us to adapt to material flows and project requirements. Neither mass production nor one-off custom design, our work falls somewhere in between.

They have a variety of upcycled products, including the Hangelier 2.0 which is a gorgeous suspended lamp that features clothes hangars as the lamp shade case. Inventive, eco smart and it works. For more details and to view more dazzling pictures, have a look online at their Etsy shop.
