The pillowcase is made of jersey hemp, which is soft and durable, and hand dyed with all natural ingredients. The pillow is made out of a renewable corn-based material. Both are handmade by an artist at Etsy, who specializes in eco friendly clothing, accessories, and bedding.
The hemp pillowcase design is quite pretty in pink, with beautiful purple butterfly appliques. Below is what the artist has to say in reference to her pieces and her eco friendly process:
I hand dye all my fabrics myself in low impact fiber reactive dye. I no longer use urea in my dye setting. My dyes are set with salt and vinegar. All fabric has been pre-shrunk in eco-friendly laundry soap that is phospahte and chlorine free. I do not use any fabric starches, making my clothes formaldehyde free.
