How To Dispose Of Wrapping Paper, Tissue, And Other Holiday Waste
With Christmas just barely days away, there are going to be presents given, received, and then most are going to be opened.
What does this mean? It means that by the weekend there is going to be mounds of holiday wrapping paper and tissue all around your home, your neighbors, and, well you get the point. But have no fear, below are a few tips on how to control the mess and dispose of the waste responsibly.
1. Assign someone to collect the waste on gift opening day, and have him/her pick up all tissue and wrapping paper, cardboard boxes, etc.
2. Sort the waste into piles of re-use and recycle.
3. Reuse as much as possible, maybe save for next year.
4. Plastic peanuts and foam chips can go to a shipping store.
5. Go to Earth 911 and seek out your local recycling facility, call and ask what type of materials they accept.
6. Drop off your Christmas waste (sorted and ready to go) after the holidays.
These are simple but tried and true methods. For more ideas and inspiration, visit the Earth 911 website.
