How To Green Your Reading, Part II

by Missy on Friday, February 27th, 2009

In our last article, we covered how to green your reading with ebook readers such as the new Kindle from Amazon.

In this article we discuss other ways to make our reading eco friendly. If you spend a lot of time online then you most likely don’t fancy the idea of spending your reading time online. Perhaps the idea of curling up with a paper book instead of an ebook reader is more to your liking, if so, below we cover a few ways to green up.

How To Green Your Reading, Part II

  • Rent a book – Instead of buying new and having a constant supply of new books made, why not rent instead. This way the book gets around and conserves trees from having to be taken down for additional book creation. You can rent a book from places such as Book Swim and for college text books try Campus Book Rentals.
  • Borrow a book – Try your local library. These rentals many times are free and can be held for several days. All that is needed is your library card. Ask your friendly librarian for the list of books, mags, newspapers, and audio books available for rental.
  • Swap a book – You can trade and share books through a program such as Swap Tree.
  • Get the audio version – How about the audio version of a best seller or fave book author? Try Audio Books for a wide selection.

What other ways can you think of to green your reading? Share with us your creative and clever ideas.
