Island brewery goes green

by David Allen on Thursday, September 6th, 2007

The Cayman Islands are pretty small, but there are some well established businesses, like the Cayman Island Brewery, they make the local beer Caybrew.

Recently though the company has made a pledge to become an eco friendly business, as resources on a can rare or expensive. They intend to use recycled beer bottles, this a great move because glass is perfect for recycling and even reusing if the bottles can be collected back in good order.

The businesses that the brewery supply are encouraged to return their empty bottles, for which the bar owners get paid $2 per carton, which is 24 bottles, these can then be sterilised and reused.
