Job Market Turning Green
As environmental awareness increases and concern for the environment becomes more prominent in schools, businesses and in the public in general, companies are turning to people who know how to think green to help them out.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel writes
Greenjobs.com founder Peter Beadle said he and his partners launched their site after seeing the renewable energy industry mature. The business evolved from mom-and-pop shops often hiring alternative energy enthusiasts to big corporations rolling out large-scale projects and employing professionals.
“We recognized that if the [renewable energy] industry really exploded, the growth limiting factor could be people,” Beadle said.
Since launching in late 2004, greenjobs.com has registered more than 5,000 job seekers. And multinational companies, including GE and BP, now buy annual packages to advertise energy-related jobs that range from product marketers to top executives, Beadle said.
Green workers are expected to be needed in engineering, construction, consulting, architecture, manufacturing, politics, education, and almost everything in the next coming years!
It’s a good time to be green!
