Keetsa Sponsors Discarded Dreams Competition

by max on Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Are you creative? Do enjoy disassembling things and putting them back together in new and interesting ways? Are you committed to a greener future?

Keetsa is a proud sponsor of the first annual Discarded Dreams Competition.

Mattresses are one of the biggest landfill cloggers across the nation. Instead of asking how to get rid of these landfill nuisances, the creators of the Discarded Dream Competition are asking how to take these old contraptions apart and make them into a new, useful consumer product.

The competition: Design a new consumer product utilizing parts from a recycled mattress. Design must include how to break down the mattress, product design, and how to reproduce it on a larger scale. The use of local resources and manufacturing facilities is encouraged.

The registration and submission period starts September 1, 2008 and will be open until December 5th, 2008. Contestants must register on the Open Architecture Network, a site that helps maintain your design in the fine tuning process.

For a more specific breakdown of the rules and stipulations, check out the competition’s guideline page.

Let that creative mind loose and put it to greener use!
