Koreans Turning Organic

by Brian Yalung on Sunday, February 10th, 2008

Organic Koreans

Count the Koreans in for turning towards organic products that are the talk of the town today. Apparently they have been fed up with having to deal with the harmful products that are being produced in a different way. The problem that they provide is really something that is out of the obvious. One is that the nutrients that they lack. Much of these issues can be seen from people who for some reason get sick from them.

But the organic is expected to catch up and save the people from such health issues. Getting the best nutrients can be achieved and it starts by buying organic products. Korea has joined the ranks and soon, majority of the world will follow as well.

The market for agricultural goods produced organically grew rapidly over the past years despite their higher prices, as Korean consumers became increasingly health conscious, according to figures released by a state-run institute Sunday (Feb. 10).

As many as 1,785,874 tons of “environmentally-friendly” farm products were produced in 2007, a sharp increase from 1,134,937 tons a year earlier, the statistics from the Korea Rural Economic Institute said. The comparable figures were 26,643 tons in 1999, 87,279 tons in 2001 and 806,247 tons in 2005.
