McKinney Offices are Pretty Green!

by erin on Friday, May 25th, 2007

The McKinney Green Building in Dallas Texas is one of the greenest buildings in Texas!

It gets 10% of its electricity from the solar panels that line the roof, recycles its rainwater, limits light pollution and the majority of the building — including the carpet — was made out of recycled materials!

While the construction of the building ran to about 50% more than the construction of a traditional for-profit office building, the company expects to reap financial benefits in the long term through the energy and water savings the green design will help them accumulate.

The building is only about 50% leased, so if you are looking for office space in the Dallas area, this could be your ticket!

However, going green in the for-profit sector still remains an uphill battle!
