Measure Electric Wattage Use with WattsUp?

wattsup-electricity-meter.jpg

The WattsUp? electricity meter, is an energy savers dream come true. This tool allows one to test out appliances in the home, and check out how much juice is being drained and also how much this juice is costing you.

The manufacturer of this eco-friendly electric saver is based in Denver, Colorado and the story behind WattsUp is pretty neat, too. Started by Brad Volin, back when he was in college, after a roommate asked him to pay a higher share of the electric bill, because he had a waterbed. Brad didnt beleive he was consuming more power, but wanted to really find out, so then and there is when the idea was born.

One can test appliances, computers, and a host other electric items around a home. There are 3 levels of meters available with various functionality, the basic consumer ones goes for $95.

To measure future possible energy consumption on a new purchase, such as an air conditioner, WattsUp should do the trick. , , , , , , , , , ,
