Morain Valley Community College in Illinois To Go Green
An upcoming 12.6 acre campus (Southwest Educational Center) scheduled to be built in Tinley Park, IL is set to be created as an energy-efficient building.
The new building will include the following LEED focused design features:
- build using recycled materials
- energy efficient heating and cooling systems (geothermal HVAC)
- energy efficient lighting techniques (daylight harvesting)
- installation of a green roof
The school hopes to achieve LEED certification, which would mean the building meets the highest standards in green and sustainable design.
Another goal the community college hopes to satisfy with the green building, is to motivate and raise awareness of eco friendly issues with students.
