by Missy on Thursday, April 9th, 2009

If you haven’t already heard, this week is National Cell Phone Recycling Week.

This annual event was created to raise awareness of cell phone recycling and to motivate Americans to dispose of their unwanted mobiles properly. The event is a joint effort between big brand cell phone companies and service providers.

To participate, just bring in old cell phones to your nearest cell phone retailer such as ATT, T-Mobile, Sprint, or Verizon. But it’s not only providers participating – you can also drop off at big national retailers such as Best Buy, Staples, Sony, and Office Depot. Good thing is just about every city and town in the US has one or more of these retailers! Get out there and recycle!

For the complete list of drop off sites, visit the EPA list.

This is THE WEEK to get rid of unwanted – old – or broken cell phones of any make and model, and from any service provider. Simply drop off at any of the sites mentioned above and they will dispose of it properly. Feel free to also bring along dead cell phone batteries, mobile phone chargers, and other accessories, as the retailers will handle these for you too.

For all the details, go here. Nat’l Cell Phone Recycling Week runs from April 6th through April 12th, 2009.
