Natural Burials Available At Milton Fields

by Missy on Sunday, May 31st, 2009

New natural burial provider has opened its doors in Milton Field, Georgia.

Milton Fields aims to grant the wish of those who want to leave a legacy of social responsibility and does so via their beautiful 17 acre natural burial site.

No caskets, no embalming, and no harsh chemicals are used in the entire burial process. Instead of embalming, refrigeration is used and all-natural materials like a cotton or linen shroud are used on the deceased body.

The low impact, sustainable approach of a Natural Burial Ground does not alter the landscape’s beauty. One hundred years from now, the land will look much the same as it does today. Milton Fields’ conservation ethic also extends beyond its 17-acre grounds.

Natural burial returns to customs which were the norm before the Civil War. Many religious groups such as Quakers and Orthodox Jews have safely practiced natural burials for centuries. Today, in place of embalming, refrigeration is used. The deceased’s body is then placed in a casket made of biodegradable material or wrapped in a fabric shroud before being gently placed directly in the ground.
