NYC Has Eco Friendly Parking Meters
When you think about it, a parking meter sits there at the side of the street connected to the mains electric system all day, every day. However, times are changing in the Big Apple and there is a network of parking meters, which are powered by the sun and not connected at all to the grid. It may not be one of the best eco friendly ideas after all who likes to pay to park, but at least it is a step in the right direction.
The IPS Group is rolling out these new meters and they are not even putting them on new posts, these meters are being mounted onto the old posts, which were originally built for the older meters. The solar powered meters also use wireless technology, which connects them to the network and allows for the use of credit cards.
