Old River Road Blueberry Farm, DIY Fresh Blueberries Await in Mississippi

by Missy on Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

It’s blueberry picking time at Old River Road Blueberry Farm in Mississippi.

Imagine the kids with a bucket in one hand picking out some of the freshest blueberries you’ve ever seen or tasted, and a big smile on their face as they pick them all by themselves. This is what Summer is all about in Vancleave, Mississippi.

The luscious blueberries tend to ripen in May and harvest all through June and July. These are also organic as no pesticides are used – the farm owners instead use mulching, trimming and mowing. What fun to pick your own fresh blueberries right from the source.

As for the four acre blueberry farm itself, it’s owned and operated by the retired husband and wife team, Karon and Ed Engel. A dream come true for the pair.
