Old Things can be New Stuff

As far as our old stuff like old furniture and dilapidated materials can really produce new work of art. It can be seen as a form of recycling in some ways, producing new products which can pass as new ones.
Such is a talent that only the creative minds think of. People such as Reine Perkins took this initiative using old furniture and paraphernalia and transforming them into something new. Painting and artistic work made from worn out materials such as windows screens and plastic doors can really bring out the Picasso in anyone if he really wills it.
“A portrait of sandhill cranes is to be displayed in the County Administration Center in DeLand. It’s going in Pat’s office,” said Perkins.
Screen painting is an old art form, common in the South of yesterday, she explained.
“This started before air conditioning, when people kept the windows open and wanted privacy,” Perkins said.
Using old plastic screens from doors and windows, Perkins paints images of birds, frogs, other animals, and landscapes. Her work has even been recognized by Volusia County officials, including County Council Member Pat Northey.
