Recycled Metal School Crossing Platter

by Missy on Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

This is the find of the day in recycled gift ideas. A platter made from metal school crossing signs.

This would make a great gift idea for teachers and dads who are teachers as well. The recycled metal school crossing platter is meant to be used for decorative purposes. If i were to get my hands on one, i would hang it on my recycled art wall. This is just lovely.

Check out the bio artist description below:

Watch for children! This stylish large platter is handmade from recycled, retired aluminum traffic signs and copper rivets by metalsmith Boris Bally, whose work keeps approximately 25,000 pounds of discarded material out of the landfill each year. This earth-friendly accent is easily displayed on a wall with its pre-drilled hanging hole, or can be used to serve fruit or dry food only.

Because traffic signs signs develop different natural patinas from long exposure to weather, each platter is unique, but all feature the international symbol for school crossing.
