Rent Your Halloween Costume, Instead Of Buying New
This year why not try something new and instead of buying a Halloween costume, how about renting a gently used one?
This idea was prompted by the good guys and gals over at eco friendly daily tip newsletter Ideal Bite. The green tip today is about this very topic. They go on to mention that simply by renting your Halloween costume this year (be it a Sarah Palin mask or Weak US Dollar outfit), you will be saving loads of plastic and pvc-laden vinyl from ending up in local landfills.
A win win for small businesses who rent costumes and a big fat win for the environment.
To find a local Halloween costume rental shop in your area, i suggest my good friend Google or the yellow pages. You can also always ask a friend for a referral.

This is a great alternative, since most people only wear a Halloween costume once. However if you’ve already bought a costume this year, consider selling it back to a thrift shop once the holiday’s over. You can recoup some of your cost this way and as well provide a cheap (and green) option for someone else next year. I posted an article and video on my site with some suggestions for second-hand stores.
