Sugar to power future cars

Bio fuels made from sugar could be powering our cars in the future instead of using the tried and tested gas like we have been for past 100 years or so!
Not only can the bio fuels be made from sugar, it can be made from virtually anything organic eventually this should include the use of organic trash too, which would be a great way to save filling up land fill sites with this material that causes pockets of methane.
