The Return Of Bottled Water

by David Allen on Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

It was not that long ago when the market for bottled water looked as like it was faltering a little. However, both the monetary and environmental cost has not managed to diffuse this mega business. In fact the business has started a fight back; looks like bottled water is here to stay.

Water in bottles is just water; it may come from a spring in the mountains of a remote island in the Pacific, but its still water. Now bottled water offers something more, these products are now coming with added vitamins, minerals and other supplements. There are choices of flavoured water and some even come in bottles that are biodegradable or compostable. Bottled water is back on the menu.

The escalating presence of the bottled water market is a shame for both human health and the environment. Use reusable bottles like Sigg and cut down on waste! Utilize a water filter at home. Don't buy new bottled "clean" water (most bottled water is filtered just as much as regular old tap).

Furthermore, the new "vitamin" waters these companies are marketing are just that, a marketing campaign. If you take the time to look at the nutrition label, most of these so called "health waters" have unhealthy amounts of sugar and artificial flavoring. You can eat right and still easily get the vitamins and minerals your body needs. If even that seems too hard, try taking a multivitamin pill. The benefits without the sugar.
