The Terra Plana Shoe Amnesty
The whole month may, people in the UK will be able to recycle their old shoes. Shoes are one of the worst items of clothing to recycle as many places will not take them to sell on for one reason or another. But this idea from Terra Plana is simply fantastic.
Just take an old or unwanted pair of shoes into the participating branches, it makes not difference what the make or design is and you will get a £10 ($20) discount, it doesn’t get better than that, this is what the Terra Plana Shoe Amnesty is all about.
In the UK alone, over 330 million pairs of new shoes are purchased each year with a similar amount going to landfill or the incinerator.
In total, 25.5 million tones of household waste is collected each year in the UK, just less than 27% of this is recycled or composted.
UK recycling currently saves between 10 - 15 million tones of greenhouse gases each year, this is equivalent to taking 3.5 million cars off the road.
The locations of our participating stores are as follows:
64 Neal Street
Covent Garden
WC2H 9PQ
124 Bermondsey Street
London Bridge
SE1 3TX
