Times Square gets its first eco sign
A place like Times Square in New York is something that you either love or hate, the scene that has been filmed so many times simply cannot go noticed, however all of the neon lighting must have an effect on the environment.
Maybe that is why the electronic printing company Ricoh from Japan has plans for a totally eco friendly billboard which will be powered by solar and wind power. The sign which measures around 47’ x 126’ will use forty five solar panels and four wind turbines. The company estimate that this will save eighteen tons of Co2 per year! If there is not enough power the light the sign, it will remain in darkness.

Its about time something like that happened!!
Now they just have to see what they can do about the bloody light pollution created by these things. Far too many migratory birds end up caught in that mess before they even have time to realize whats going on!!
