There’s a growing movement within the micro-finance sector that is hoping to bridge green with micro loans.
The argument is that the micro loan community is ignorant or arrogant about how micro finance can be detrimental to the environment. If loans are given out to the poor for negligent technology or outdated practices, it doesn’t contribute to the overall good of our planet and its people. But if the micro finance community appreciates the fact that empowering the impoverished by giving them both the means to self-sustain and be environment friendly, they can weather two storms with one approach.
