UK Supermarket to give away loo roll

by David Allen on Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

sainsbury In a drive to promote eco friendly loo rolls, the supermarket giant Sainsbury’s will be give away around five million eco friendly loo rolls this week, now that is a lot of loo roll!

The aim behind this is to make consumers aware of the fact that even though paper towels such as kitchen and loo roll are readily available and disposed of so easily, they are made from trees and the simple fact that the average household in the UK get through 115 loo rolls every year, that means a lot of trees have been cut down just to produce that amount.

The loo roll that Sainsbury’s are giving away carries the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) logo, which informs people that they are eco friendly.
