University Eco-Dorm
The newest dormitory at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire, Langdon Woods, recently received a LEED Gold Certified Standing for its design and construction.

The building has low-flo and slo-flo faucets and shower-heads, multiple flush settings for the toilets, waterless urinals, is heated via steam heat, an a recycling ventilation system. The building itself was built out of 10% recycled material, 20% local material and it expected to save the university $250,000 dollars a year in energy and heating costs.

Since opening in 2006, the building has reduced its energy consumption by 60%, water use by 30%, recycles 75% of the waste that is produced in the building, and is filled with educational displays so the students and the surrounding community can learn about the impact their lifestyles — and what living in this building is doing to minimize this impact.
