Water Powered Pool Lights

by David Allen on Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

There is nothing that looks better than a swimming pool at night with the underwater lights on, it looks so cool and inviting, but there are some problems with this. First up is the electricity used to power the lights, this does not mix very well with water and sometimes things go wrong. There is also the power consumption, pool lights tend to use a lot of power because they are on for a long time.

Fortunately, designer Lysandre Follet has thought up a great way of having the best of both worlds, they are called eco lights and have a turbine built into them, which generates enough power to turn the light on. Because these use the filter system, these lights have to be put in during the building of the pool and they will only work while the filter is running, good idea though.
