WeCycle Facilitates Concert Paper Cup Recycling
Have you heard of WeCycle? You might not have heard of the company, but it’s quite possible you’ve run into their product.
WeCycle facilitates recycling at concert events by placing recycling bins in strategic places. But they focus on a special niche that is not handled heavily by most major recycling companies – paper cups. Why? Because apparently paper cups don’t have high recycle value and companies tend to stay away from this item. And as to why they have focused on concert arenas, they mention “that they wanted a way for New Yorkers to be able to recycle their waste at heavily attended area concerts”.
The guys behind WeCycle, two NYC college buddies, are able to run their business of recycling paper cups at area concerts – by integrating advertising opportunities on the recycling bins themselves. Started in 2008, the college buds have a thriving business in a down economy because of their ability to combine innovation and creativity with social responsibility.
