What Does Your Local Post Office Recycle?

by Missy on Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Back in March of this year, i profiled the NEW! electronics recycling program from the United States Postal Service, in where they accept your small electronics and personal gadgets.

In the article i focused on the aspect that they accept iPods and other MP3 players, but they also accept other devices.

Let’s take a look at all the personal electronic devices that the USPS will recycle for free:

inkjet printers

mp3 players

cell phones

pda’s

digital cameras

As you can see they accept quite abit of personal devices,  not just iPods or mp3 players.

What Do I Do?

Firstly call your local post office, and see if it is one of the many participating in the consumer electronic recycling program? If so, they will hand you a pre paid postage envelope, you insert your electronic device, and they recycle it for you. That’s it.

Reminder

Remember it is not national as of this writing, so this may or may not be an option for you just yet. So first call your local branch, and see if they accept your recyclables.
