What happens to old cutlery?

by David Allen on Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Nowadays many things are so cheap in the larger stores that it is sometimes no even worth worrying about a broken plate or lost spoon. This is because of the low cost products that are coming out of Asia, so this begs the question exactly what happens to all of those old pieces of cutlery?

Well clearly we haven’t had the foresight of this artist and designer Osian Batyka-Williams, who has had the idea to collect all of these pieces of stainless steel and carefully construct furniture out of them. Now I know what you are going to say, is it safe to sit on? Well of course it is you may just wish to wear thicker trousers when you try it out.
