As the need for batteries (rechargeable and standard ones) grows larger, it is apparent that the world needs a new kind of battery that lasts longer. Not only for use but to also address electronic waste problems owing to the used up batteries which are part of the mounting landfills we all have probably heard about.
Sol Chip may have the answer for that. That is if their goal towards developing a new kind of everlasting solar battery holds up. If successful, the said battery will be able to recharge even in low-light environments and render the necessary juice that most gadgets require.
There is a prototype as we speak. However the prototype is limited to an output of only 8.4V for now, but enough to power some outdoor devices. To improve on the power requirements, they are reportedly working on various designs used in industries such as agriculture, farming, security and weather testing, something which should jack up the power resources required by most devices.
The new solar rechargeable battery would address that issue and be a cheaper and more eco-friendly alternative.
