Charging your Way with Sanyo’s Eneloop

by Brian Yalung on Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

We have seen a lot of modern gadgets that are thriving on renewable energy and this device unveiled by Eneloop, the Solar Light and USB Charger is definitely something that any modern consumer geek would want to have.

Solar chargers have been produced in masses and the easier the interface, the better. Add to the fact that it can also be used as a portable nine-bulb LED light. You get a 2 for one deal so you won’t be left in the dark anymore.

The solar light comes with 9 LED bulbs that can be used all at once for bright surround light, or singly for a long-lasting spotlight. It takes a hefty 15-30 hours to charge fully, but once it’s full Sanyo reckons it will be able to operate on 9 bulbs for up to 9 hours, or 1 bulb for 35 hours

This is right on. The combination of LED and rechargeable batteries is the most convenient, safe and economical way to light: no heat, shock, fire, to worry about. Eneloop rechargeable batteries work so well for me that I have been advocating a deposit on disposable batteries like the one on disposable containers. DepotEco, the Eneloop dealer on line that I have been using for the last year, has a solar charger that works with Eneloops I am using. It has a meter to help orient it to the light. DepotEco carries all the Eneloop products available in the United States. Hopefully they will get this soon. I will send them a copy of this post as a hint.
