Earplugs that Transform into Chargers

by Brian Yalung on Friday, March 6th, 2009

Earplugs are in demand thanks to the influx of portable media players for private listening but what makes the B-headphones different is that they also act as battery chargers. These headphones come in 3 pieces: two earbuds and a housing case. Plug the two earbuds on both the ends of the housing and you got yourself an AA battery.

Now put that battery into the main charging station. A light indicator lets you know when they are fully charged up so that you can pop them out and use them again.

  • aa batteries are nominal 1.5 volt (thats what your charger puts out) bluetooth and most other things in that world run at 5.5 volts, so there is a problem there.

While I like the idea of combining technology to conserve, I am an audiophile. What is the sound quality of these headphones? Are we forsaking a better sound just to charge some batteries? This product has the advantage of convenience; it really stinks when you aren't near a battery charging outpost and your batteries die. However, with all the eco-friendly battery charges on the market, it might make more sense to just charge a bunch at home and take extras with you and enjoy quality sound out of other headphones.
