Eco-friendly Cell phone Charging System

by Brian Yalung on Friday, January 16th, 2009

Hottips! is a new, eco-friendly cell phone charging system selected as an honoree for the prestigious Innovations 2009 Design and Engineering Award in the Eco-Design product category by the Consumer Electronics Association.

Chargers are coming out in large numbers these days and apparently this is because of the large influx of gadgets like mobile phones and portable media players. Hence, with that demand evident, it is only normal to see a lot of new chargers, developed in the eco-friendly way, to come out as well and the Hottips is only one of them.

Natralock’s slim design is made from a proprietary, tear-resistant paperboard that helps to reduce weight without compromising the strength or security of the package, thus reducing transportation and shipping costs.

Natralock packaging incorporates a clear plastic APET or RPET bubble, and uses 60 percent less plastic on average than petroleum-based clamshells.

  • A step in the right direction indeed. The next step is solar powered chargers, but they all seem to be very expensive compared to these.
