ZTE Corporation unveils its own version of a modular phone with the Eco-Mobius, something which can be easily upgraded when needed. A prior modular phone was unveiled by Motorola some days back which you can read here.
At the rate the mobile phones are coming out, it would not be surprising to see most consumers shifting towards the new brand but sadly, compounding the e-waste woes we are all hearing about. However, this modular phone should somehow slow that down a bit, allowing potential owners to upgrade or customize their device as they please.
With most folks practically changing phones annually, the Eco Mobius phone should be a neat way to help bring down e-waste and curb down the problems that old phones are most likely to fall into.
The phone’s display, core, battery and camera are each located on their own pieces that slide along tracks to fit together and stay in place with magnets. The screen and lens are grouped together, while the CPU, GPU, RAM, and ROM remain together on the core module.
