The thing about mobile phones is that one cannot help but replace it with another one once a newer model comes out. Such has been the practice and has in some way contributed to the growing problem of proper e-waste disposal – particularly in outdated devices.
But Motorola may have something interesting for the techies out there with the modular mobile smartphones. By commissioning Project Ara, the smartphone are transformed from a single unit into a modular device.
With the move, the modular smartphones can now be customized easier leading to less needs as far as coming out with new units to stay abreast with a fast paced market.
Upgrading would also be made easier, allowing them to hang on to their device and at the same time reduce other e-waste issues which cover the replaced parts of the said mobile phone.
