Solar Powered Mars Explorer
You can’t really go to Mars with this neat Mars Explorer kit, but it’s really fun to pretend!
You can learn a lot from this toy, including how to put together a gearbox, how to set up an automatic motor and how to connect up a simple wiring circuit with solar panel, battery, motor and switch.
Once assembled and charged up, it will “walk” along the surface of “Mars”. (Or any flat surface you happen to have handy!)
While all the electrical stuff is worked out for you, you’ll have to put together the wooden pieces yourself. Don’t worry, easy-to-follow instructions are included, but you will need a screwdriver, long nose pliers, sharp knife, sandpaper and an AA battery.
There are over 100 parts, so I wouldn’t recommend giving this to small kids, no matter how big their space (or solar!) enthusiasm may be!
It’s £29.00 and is available through Eco-centric.
