LED bulbs are usually not spared from power failures, meaning that they are bound to conk out once electricity is cut. But that doesn’t seem to be the case for this 5W SmartCharge LED bulb which comes with a patent-pending technology that allows it to detect if power has indeed been cut.
The bulb can put out 350 lumens, with 3,000K, 4,000K and 5,000K color temperatures and a 120 degree beam angle. The patent-pending technology is called the Grid & Switch sensor which aside from detecting power failure, can also detect the on/off position of the switch the light or lamp and will either allow a bulb to illuminate a room or leave it in the dark until someone flicks the switch.
The bulb runs around $35 while a two pack level has been set at $55, and a four pack at $100. Shipping for the said bulb is said to be by April 2014.
