The carbon footprint of wine

It may surprise you to hear that a bottle found on the east coast of the states has a smaller carbon footprint when it comes from France, than the equivalent bottle that has been shipped in from California.

The is strange yet surprises announcement comes from Tyler Colman, from DrVino.com who has studied the way that a bottle of wine is transported, and apparently because of the wine from France is transported in containers it works out better for the environment than being transported by truck from California.
