Are You On Monarch Watch?

by Missy on Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

Great story on how there is a group project that monitors and keeps watch on the Monarch Butterfly as they head for the warmth found in Mexico. The project is called Monarch Watch, and is spearheaded by Professor Chip Taylor of the University of Kansas.

The butterflies somehow know that right around this time of year, is the time to get out of town, so to speak. They get together and head towards the sun-friendly Mexico. Along their journey are all sorts of people recruited by Chip Taylor to tab and keep watch on the butterflies. They set up feeding stations for the Monarchs and this is how they are able to attract and track them.

Monarch butterflies are colorful, friendly, and beautiful. For more dazzling photos, visit the butterfly photo gallery at Monarch Watch.
