New but eco-friendly home designs have come out in the open and today we find the LichAkitv house. This is said to be the house of the future, something put up by the VELUX group which renovated a tupical 1950s home just outside of Hamsburg.
The house is an energy-efficient masterpiece and is actually part of German competition “Model Home 2020”. The eco-friendly home features large rooms and outdoor areas where each room has large windows on walls and the roof which should easily bring in natural light.
It is powered by renewable resources. For example during the winter, skylights provide the heat while interiors are cooled by closing shutters and blinds to block off sunlight. It also has an air water heat pump to collect energy that will provide water. The solar panels on the other hand mean that the house is solely leaning on clean and emission-free energy.
Finally, the house also has an automatic system that is powered with solar energy. This is used to control the blinds, roof windows, and awnings- raising and lowering at various points of the day. When roof windows are open, hot air is funneled out the top while fresh air stays below. All the fixtures of the home are water saving and natural rainwater is used by the washing machine, irrigation and toilets.
