There are places in the world surrounding majority by water but in the case of these WaterHouses over at Hamsburg, they were actually developed in the middle of a small body of water. Built on pillars sunk on a water basin at the Elbe Islands, these new residential structures were made to somehow demonstrate how residential buildings could interact with water.
The WaterHouses will be built on a Passive House standard while geothermal energy from groundwater and solar radiation will be used to provide heat for the homes. Solar thermal installations will be responsible for providing hot water while smart building technologies will be used to provide residents to monitor their daily energy consumption.
Overall, the development consists of 34 residential units, and they are scheduled for completion this month.
