Anheuser Brewing the Eco-friendly Way

Beer giant Anheuser is joining the eco-friendly gang with its commitment to do its part in brewing beer the eco-friendly way. Starting 2009, Anheuser will start producing beer using alternative fuels, a good way to go about the shortage we have in fuel which is also escalating at unreasonable prices.
On whether this is a strategic move to solve the oil crisis or a voluntary act to be tagged eco-friendly is anybody’s guess. But at this point, it seems that it is similar to hitting two birds with one stone.
The Houston brewery will use biogas – mostly methane from the decomposition of waste – piped six miles from a landfill as part of an alternative fuel plan. When combined with the facility’s bio-energy recovery system – a system to draw energy from brewing wastewater – alternative fuels will provide more than 70 percent of the Houston brewery’s fuel needs.
