Coca-Cola Plans to Off-Set Water Consumption
Coca-Cola uses over 76 billion gallons of water a year. Today, they made the ambitious announcement that they are putting $20 million towards plans to off-set their massive water consumption.
Their press release says that Coca-Cola will use the funds to conserve seven major rivers worldwide, and improve their bottling practices to reduce pollution and water use.
This announcement was made at the World Wildlife Foundation’s annual meeting in Beijing.
“The Coca-Cola Company is answering the call to help solve the global freshwater crisis through this bold partnership,” said James Leape, Director General of WWF International. “The Company is stepping into new and uncharted territory, and we look forward to working together to meet the bold commitments they have made to water stewardship.”

You know, $20 million seems like a lot, but I bet it’s only a teeny fraction of their annual profits. At least it is a start for the trans-national corporation.
