Tesco Not So Green?

The Telegraph had a really interesting article about Tesco and their so-called(?!) green initiatives. They claim Tesco has been dressing up all their recent initiative as green, but in reality it is all about appearance.

I feel Tesco is certainly not the only company guilty of this!!

The Telegraph writes

Is it just me that’s getting irritated by Tesco’s desire to dress up everything they do as a new eco-initiative? Its latest piece of conspicuous greenery is the agreed takeover of Dobbies Garden Centres – “an important part of our strategy to provide customers with greater access to affordable energy saving and environmental products”.

Yes, growing consumer awareness of green issues and our desire to be part of the solution is a commercial opportunity. Tesco has seen the way the wind is blowing as quickly as any retailer, but the deal stacks up without the wind turbines so why not tell it like it is?
