Eco Thermo Pad

by erin on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

Pacific Outdoor Equipment’s Eco Thermal 6 Sleeping Pad is fantastic! How fantastic? So fantastic it won the prestigious Backpacker Editors’ Choice Green Award and an Outside Magazine Gear of the Year Award!

Pacific Outdoor Equipment calls the pad “the outdoor industry’s first carbon-neutral sleeping pad.”

The pad is made out of undyed bamboo fibre and is filled with a carbonized bamboo fibre fill. The air valve consists of recycled aluminum and the cord is made of hemp.

Additionally, POE purchases wind and solar power to offset the emissions from the manufacturing and shipping of the pads. Pretty great right?

The pad itself is a reasonable size, thickness and weight. I wish I had one of these when I spent four months (yes, months!) camping on an island last summer!

Just wanted to say thanks for taking time to blog about our pad back in May. We appreciate the help in getting the word out about eco-friendly outdoor gear.
    Look forward to reading,
